New York, NY
In a $50 million project to expand the 80-year-old Manhattan School of Music, the Chris & SungEun Anderson Residence Hall, a 19-story, concrete building, increased the school's facilities by 180,000 sq. ft. The lower floors of the building include new offices, classrooms, 250-seat recital, hall, 50-seat opera workshop, cafeteria, bookstore, dining hall and student activity center. Floors 6-16 comprise single-and double occupancy dormitory rooms, and floors 17-20 include hotel-like suites for visiting teachers; private concert rooms, and a penthouse apartment for the school's president. In addition, 60 acoutically-isolated practice rooms are distributed throughout floors 4-16.
VDA provided full services for design through construction administration for four (4) traction elevators, two (2) hydraulic elevators, and a handicap lift.
