The Mohegan Sun was completed in 1996 and included approximately 250,000 sq. ft., and 3,000 structured parking spaces.

The Phase II Expansion includes over 2 million sq. ft. of new construction including a 1,508 key hotel, casino (including 1,200 seats in restaurants), an arena facility for events, convention and exhibit space, and retail areas as well as 9,500 structured and 5,000 surface parking spaces. For the various uses, VDA designed separate vertical transportation schemes including a total of 33 passenger, service and freight elevators and 12 escalators and 3 vertical reciprocating conveyors. The casino opened in November 2001; the remainder of phase II completed in June 2002.
