The Center for Life Sciences (originally called the Blackfan Research Center) is a 575,000 sq. ft. building with office and laboratory space, as well as 750 underground parking spaces, in the Longwood Medical and Academic (LMA) area surrounded by Harvard Medical School, Merck's new R&D facility, Children's Hospital Research Center and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center East Campus. It is the area's first privately developed (by Lyme Properties), for-lease biomedical research center and is targeted for use by LMA area institutions

VDA is providing full consulting services through construction administration for 14 elevators: 4 geared elevators will serve up to the 9th floor; 4 gearless elevators will serve the high rise floors to 18; there are 3 geared elevators serving 7 stops in the parking garage, and there are 3 5,000 lb. capacity freight elevators which will serve 22 stops at all floors in the building.

The $120 million project is scheduled to be complete in 2008.
