Borgata, North Expansion and Water Club Atlantic City, NJ The Borgata is Atlantic City's first new hotel and casino in 13 years. Located in the Marina area, on a stretch of land known as Renaissance Pointe, the $4 million, 43-story resort features 2,002 hotel rooms, 11 retail shops, 11 restaurants, a parking garage and 125,000 sq. ft. of gaming space with more than 3,600 slot machines and 145 gaming tables. VDA provided full consulting services from design through construction administration for a total of 46 units including geared, gearless and hydraulic elevators, and escalators. The building opened for occupancy in July 2003. In 2004, Bower Lewis Thrower again retained the services of VDA for an expansion project when the Borgata management realized they needed more gaming space, more luxurious guest rooms, and more spa amenities. When the expanded facility was completed in the second quarter 2006, the Borgata claimed one of the largest poker rooms in the area, more slots, additional restaurants and nightclubs, and back-of-house space. During the planning stages of the first expansion, Boyd Gaming Corp, the owner, announced that a second Borgata expansion would be required to add 800 hotel rooms and suites and other amenities for a new "Water Club.". The $325 million project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2007. VDA is providing vertical transportation consulting services for the second expansion.
